Laura Trainor has a diverse range of work experience. In their most recent role, they served as the Director of Partnerships & Communications for Afghan Voices at Memria, where they collected and shared personal narratives of displaced Afghans. Prior to that, they worked as an Associate Director at PROOF: Media for Social Justice, a nonprofit organization promoting human rights and social justice through visual storytelling. Laura also held positions as a Documentary Practice & Visual Journalist at the International Center of Photography and as part of the National Security Project at the ACLU. Additionally, they worked as a Legislative Aide for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman and as a Program Coordinator at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Earlier in their career, they gained experience as a Litigation Paralegal and Legal Intern at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz.
Laura Trainor has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science & International Law from the University of Vermont. Laura also completed a Post Graduate program in Documentary Practice & Visual Journalism at the International Center of Photography (ICP). Laura has taken coursework at both Vermont Law and Graduate School, and GJS, where they studied Security & HEFAT.
