Russell Provost

Russell Provost, GISP, currently serves as the Geographic Information Systems Manager for Montgomery County Government since March 2024. Prior to this role, Russell held positions that include Planner III at the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission from January 2016 to February 2024, where responsibilities encompassed GIS software application, database maintenance, and transportation analysis. Notable past roles include GIS Technical Consultant at Michael Baker International and GIS Program Manager for the Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative, where efforts focused on local GIS database standardization and automated data processes. Russell's earlier experience includes GIS Specialist positions at the GeoPlan Center and the City of Gainesville Public Works, along with research assistant roles at the University of Florida. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Regional and Urban Planning with a concentration in GIS from the University of Florida, alongside a Certificate in Environmental Policy and Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Public and Urban Affairs from Virginia Tech.
