Andre van der Walt

Andre van der Walt has extensive experience in international relations and development, currently serving as New Zealand High Commissioner and Team Manager at the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade since June 2016. Andre oversees the Humanitarian and Disaster Management team and previously managed the Insights, Monitoring and Evaluation team. Prior roles include Deputy Head of Mission to Niue, Principal Development Manager focusing on performance systems, and Independent Consultant roles at both the Ministry and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community. Andre's previous experience in the sports sector includes positions at Sport New Zealand and as a lecturer in Sports Science and Clinical Exercise Physiology. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Kinanthropometry and a Bachelor's degree in Physiology and Sports Science from Potchefstroom University.
