Position Summary The Senior Digital Media Manager will be a creative and skilled communications professional who can leverage social media and the District’s website to promote New Orleans’ unique public school system and enhance public understanding of NOLA-PS. The ideal candidate will excel at creating original visual and written content, managing various social media accounts, and serving as internal liaison for website content to achieve NOLA-PS’s strategic communication goals. The Senior Digital Media Manager reports to the Executive Director of Communications.

Salary Range 50,400 - $78,735

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and post original content on social media channels and the website. This includes writing content and guiding development of visual, video, and other communication assets;
  • Manage NOLA-PS’s social media presence daily across all channels and platforms and develop strategies to increase engagement and followers;
  • Develop monthly social media calendars and ensure timely execution of campaign materials to further NOLA-PS’s strategic goals and objectives;
  • Collaborate with NOLA-PS team members across departments and charter school management organizations to develop innovative ways to create social content and programs that help magnify and share NOLA-PS key messages and content with varied audiences;
  • Support the implementation and execution of strategic internal and external communications plans that tell the OPSB’s story to students, families, schools, and other key audiences;
  • Develop and track monthly social media metrics to determine key performance indicators (KPI) and measure success; ensure content is optimized across all channels to maximize audience growth and school system awareness while highlighting community impact;
  • Support on daily communications priorities or needs related to media management or event management;
  • Manage web content with a mind toward search engine optimization (SEO);
  • Guide website improvement projects to provide timely, meaningful information and improve visitors’ experience;
  • Liaise with internal departments requesting to change, add, or remove content from the website;
  • In partnership with the AV/TV manager, contribute to the development and production of video; write and edit scripts, check facts and plan video shoots;
  • Performs other duties as required

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, journalism or related field;
  • 5+ years’ experience with internal/external communications in varied disciplines, such as organizational communication, executive communication, and public relations; education experience preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Strong technical writing and editing skills required.
  • Experience in driving initiative-specific communication plans.
  • Strong skills and experience in creating social media content, increasing engagement, and digital execution.
  • Experience in setting and achieving demanding goals.
  • Experience in the execution of different communication channels (print, video, presentations, and meetings).
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders of all levels.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to consistently take initiative, persevere through challenges and have a continuous learning mindset.
  • Customer service orientation, understanding that different stakeholders have various needs.
  • Proficiency with Mailchimp and Joomla CMS platforms, or demonstrate ability to learn.
  • Photography & videography skills.
  • Experience in graphic design.
