Perkins & Co
Marketing · Full-time · OR, United States
We are Oregon’s largest locally owned and #1 Most Admired public accounting firm, and we believe in igniting possibilities by helping our employees develop careers that fulfill their ambitions. We hire great people and give them a great place to work. Our secret to keeping them around is a positive culture, challenging and interesting work, and a dedication to continuous learning. Please don’t be apprehensive about the fact that we’re a CPA firm; this is not your stereotypical, old-fashioned, stuffy firm. Perkins is an incredible place to leverage your skills as a marketing leader.
Public accounting is demanding, which is why we prioritize a “people first” culture, which includes embracing and supporting remote work. We trust our people, so there’s no need to micromanage schedules or scrutinize “butts in seats” to know that great work is getting done. In fact, over 20% of our employees are fully remote from outside of the Pacific Northwest.
However, due to the nature of the Marketing Director role, we are only considering local candidates who embrace a hybrid work model and will work in our downtown Portland office three days per week (preferably Tuesday – Thursday). If you live outside the area but plan to move to Portland soon, please be explicit about this on your resume or cover letter.
Our Marketing Director is a strategic position where you’ll be a builder of process rather than a producer of content. You’ll lead and develop the marketing team, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and professional growth. You and your team will collaborate with firm leadership, understanding key business objectives and aligning marketing efforts to drive measurable success. You’ll leverage data analytics and technology to track key performance metrics and optimize marketing strategies for maximum impact, and you’ll ensure brand consistency by overseeing all marketing communications and maintaining adherence to corporate messaging and design standards. Of course, you’ll oversee the marketing budget and ensure efficient allocation of resources to various efforts. The firm will rely on you to monitor industry trends and regulatory shifts to proactively adapt marketing approaches and maintain competitive positioning.
Marketing encompasses many different types of work, not all of which will apply to this role. You could be a great fit if the following describes you:
What’s in it for you?
You’re still reading so there’s something about this opportunity that resonates with you, but you’re probably still asking yourself why you would choose this role instead of an easier one elsewhere. First, your contributions as Marketing Director will directly influence our firm’s success, making this an opportunity to create meaningful impact. Second, you won’t be dealing with layers of bureaucracy. You’ll report to the COO and work directly with shareholders so there will be tremendous visibility to your team’s results—it’s an exciting chance to really show people what Marketing can do! Third, you’ll work with smart, fun people who work hard and strive to deliver great results. The firm’s reputation is stellar, and its history makes for great storytelling; your peer group of directors is collaborative and supportive; and your team is highly competent and resilient. Finally, as the firm grows and evolves, you’ll have the opportunity to add positions to your team (we have a plan based on a recent external audit) and experience career progression yourself.
We don’t like to brag, but we have some significant accolades under our belt—all thanks to our passionate teams. At Perkins, we feel good about our work and love that our community feels good about it, too.
