Hal Tily

Hal Tily is an experienced data science and machine learning professional, currently serving as an Advisor at Fi since May 2022, focusing on data strategy and machine learning-driven product features. Previously, Hal held the position of Head of Data Science at Oura from December 2020 to April 2024, where responsibilities included building and leading a data science team that developed algorithms for health and wellness features. Prior to Oura, Hal was the Vice President of Data Science & Machine Learning at Viome, directing efforts in individualized wellness through RNA sequencing technology. Hal's experience also includes a role as Senior Research Scientist at Netflix, specializing in recommender systems, and as a Senior Data Scientist at Nuance Communications, working on speech synthesis for major clients. Academic credentials include a PhD in Linguistics from Stanford University, a postdoctoral fellowship in Brain & Cognitive Science from MIT, and a BSc in Artificial Intelligence and Psychology from the University of Birmingham.
