Alan Nutt

Alan Nutt is an experienced Senior Layout Engineer at Salience Labs since November 2023, previously serving as Photonics Layout Lead at Rockley Photonics Limited from October 2018 to October 2022, where responsibilities included verification of design implementation for production. Prior to this, Alan worked as Operations Engineer at Powerphotonic, overseeing product testing and operator training from September 2014 to September 2018. Earlier roles included Optics Engineer at Kymata, Alcatel, and Avanex from June 1999 to 2004, and Research Scientist at Eastman Kodak between May 1989 and August 1999, focusing on optics and MEMS for various applications and holding multiple patents. Alan began a career in research as a Scientist at Nippon Sheet Glass Company, Limited from April 1986 to May 1989, specializing in electro-optic materials and glass. Alan Nutt earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in integrated optics from the University of Glasgow, where studies were completed from 1978 to 1986.
