Michael was appointed Vice President, People & Culture in May 2020 and is responsible for the effective execution and evolution of all aspects of people and culture related systems, including HR strategy, company culture and values, employee engagement, marketing, communications, and the ongoing support of SECURE’s dynamic business operations. With over 25 years’ experience, Michael ensures SECURE’s unique culture is a true competitive advantage for the business and a compelling employment proposition for the current and future workforce.
Prior to joining the company, Michael held various senior HR roles at Shell plc and Shell Canada Limited from 2002-2018. He led the HR function for Shell's commercial business across the Americas and in Canada for Downstream, Upstream as well as the Compensation and Policy function. Prior to his roles with Shell, Michael began his career with TransCanada Turbines, a joint venture company of TransCanada Pipelines and the Wood Group.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Saskatchewan with a double major in HR Management and Marketing and is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources.

Secure Energy Services Inc is a Canada-based energy services company. It owns and operates midstream infrastructure and provides environmental services and products to upstream oil and natural gas companies operating in Western Canada and certain regions in the United States. It operates through three divisions. The Processing, Recovery and Disposal division owns and operates midstream infrastructure that provides processing, storing, shipping and marketing of crude oil, oilfield waste disposal and recycling. Its Drilling Services division provides equipment and product solutions for drilling, completion and production operations for oil and gas producers. Its Onsite Services division includes Environmental services, which provide pre-drilling assessment planning, drilling waste management, and remediation and reclamation assessment services; Integrated Fluid Solutions, which include water management, and pumping and storage solutions, and Projects, which include pipeline integrity.
