Christopher Tan

Christopher Tan currently serves as Principal Professional Officer at the Singapore Institute of Technology since January 2024. Prior to this role, Christopher held the position of Managing Director of Fire Safety Consultancy at Surbana Jurong Private Limited from January 2020 to December 2023. A long career at the Singapore Civil Defence Force spanned from 1986 to 2019, including titles such as Director of the Fire Safety & Shelter Department and Director of the Civil Defence Academy, among others. Christopher also served as Senior Consultant to Qatar for the Singapore Government. Additional leadership experiences include chairing the Board of Directors at COSEM Safety & Security Services Pte Ltd from September 2014 to August 2018 and acting as Executive Director of the National Fire Prevention Council from April 2004 to October 2005. Christopher's educational background features degrees from multiple prestigious institutions, including INSEAD and Western Sydney University, culminating in a Master of Fire Safety Engineering.
