Karen Berman is a seasoned policy expert in early childhood education with extensive experience in advocacy and systems change. Currently serving as Senior Director at Start Early since 2010, Berman has held various leadership roles, including Director of Illinois Policy, where efforts focus on ensuring access to quality early childhood experiences for at-risk children in Illinois. Prior to this, Berman worked as Senior Policy Associate at the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, concentrating on litigation and policies related to children with disabilities and poverty. Berman holds a J.D. from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan.
