Dimitris Xirouchakis has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Dimitris began their career as a Graduate Student at the University of Minnesota Duluth and later continued their studies as a Graduate Student at Stony Brook University. After completing their education, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. In 1999, they joined Texas Southern University / NASA JSC High-Pressure Laboratory as a Research Associate. In 2003, they became the Laboratory Director at GeoTerra Ltd, where they worked for over 12 years. In 2016, they took on multiple roles, including Laboratory Director and Director at Structural Soils. Additionally, they served as a Technical Consultant at their own company, Dimitris Xirouchakis, providing expertise in materials, geology, construction materials forensic investigations, and standards and regulations.

Dimitris Xirouchakis obtained their PhD in Earth & Space Sciences from Stony Brook University, where they studied from 1991 to 1997. Prior to that, they completed their MSc in Geology at the University of Minnesota Duluth between 1989 and 1991.
