Senthil Velmurugan is a highly experienced software engineering professional with a diverse background in application development and team leadership. Currently serving as the Director of Software Engineering at Tesla since February 2012, Senthil has overseen engineering teams and has been instrumental in building internal applications for crucial systems such as Planning, Material flow, Controls, and Factory Execution. Prior to Tesla, Senthil held multiple roles at various companies, including Software Engineer at New York Life Insurance Company, Senior Developer at Argent Mortgage, and Specialist IT at Enron, with extensive experience in developing trading applications and insurance software. Senthil began a career in software development with positions at Cyber Surf Inc and Ortheiler International, following a foundational education in Computer Science from Madurai Kamaraj University.

Tesla believes the faster the world stops relying on fossil fuels and moves towards a zero-emission future, the better. Additionally, they market and sell vehicles to consumers through a network of company owned stores and galleries. Tesla operates as two segments: one focused on automotive which includes its Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X vehicles, and the second on energy generation and storage which includes Powerwall and Megapack lithium-ion batteries. Today, Tesla is led by Elon Musk, however, other notable founders of the company are Martin Eberhard, JB Straubel, Marc Tarpenning, and Ian Wright. The company has manufacturing facilities in the US, Germany and China and has operations across Asia Pacific and Europe. Tesla is headquartered in Austin, Texas.
