The Broad
Ruth Courtland is an accomplished professional with diverse experience in the arts and visitor services. Currently serving as a Visitor Services Representative at The Broad since 2015, Ruth is responsible for welcoming visitors and ensuring a positive museum experience. Additionally, Ruth co-hosts "The Other Art Talk," a podcast that features interviews and discussions on the art scene in Los Angeles, since 2009. As the owner of Ceramica Sur Mexican Ceramics, Ruth imports ceramics from central Mexico, showcasing a commitment to cultural exchange. Ruth's educational background includes a BA in Political Science from the University of Arizona and studies at Villa Mercede in Florence, Italy.
The Broad
The Broad is a contemporary art museum founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler, the museum offers free general admission and presents an active program of rotating temporary exhibitions and innovative audience engagement. The Broad is home to nearly 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, which is one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art, and welcomes more than 800,000 visitors a year. The 120,000-square-foot building features two floors of gallery space and is the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation’s worldwide lending library, which has been loaning collection works to museums around the world since 1984.
