Yuliang Yang

Yuliang studied in the Department of chemistry of Fudan University from 1974 to 1977. In 1984, he obtained a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry (polymer chemistry and Physics) from Fudan University by his doctoral dissertation “graph theory of static and dynamic behaviors of polymer chain”.

Mr. Yang went to the German Max-Planck Institute of Polymer Research worked as a postdoc from 1986 to 1988. The research topic in that period focused on the development of solid-state NMR research methods for polymeric condensed states. He became the Professor of Polymer Science of Fudan University in 1993. He was elected academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003; and served as Vice President of Fudan University from 1999 to 2006, responsible for scientific research and transformation of scientific research results.

Mr. Yang went to Beijing to serve as the Director of the Office of the Degree Committee, State Council from 2006 to 2009. He returned to Shanghai where he was appointed as the President of Fudan University and assumed that role from 2009 to 2014. Mr. Yang next became the Director of the Institute for Preservation and Conservation of Chinese Ancient Books, Fudan University. Since 2015, he was also appointed as the Director of the Science Education and Popularization Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
