Emiko Kurotsu

Emiko Kurotsu serves as the Head of Legal at Turn/River Capital since January 2025, following a distinguished tenure as Director and Assistant General Counsel at Upstart from May 2021 to January 2025. Prior to that, Emiko held the position of Of Counsel at Morrison & Foerster LLP from October 2016 to May 2021, and Vice President and Counsel at BlackRock from February 2015 to October 2016. Emiko began a legal career as a Corporate Associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP (2011-2015) after serving as an ETFs and Investment Funds Analyst at Morningstar, Inc. (2004-2008). Emiko Kurotsu earned a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law, graduating Order of the Coif, with an A.B. in International Studies (with Honors) from the University of Chicago, and an International Baccalaureate from George School.
