Ian B. Buchanan is President, Ambulatory and Post-Acute Care for UNC Health Care and is responsible for outpatient and continuing care across the system in over 600 physician practices and at 12 hospitals. He previously served as Senior Vice President for Operations at UNC Hospitals, overseeing numerous clinical service lines and hospital support functions. Ian returned to UNC Health Care in a leadership capacity in 2008 after working for Optum Health in New York.
Ian received his undergraduate degree from Davidson College, and his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees from UNC. He is a proud North Carolina native, and passionate about UNC’s mission of caring for the people of North Carolina.
