Michele Betsill

Professor Of Global Environmental Politics at University of Copenhagen

Michele Betsill serves as a Professor of Global Environmental Politics at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen since August 2021. Prior to this role, Michele Betsill held various positions in the Political Science department at Colorado State University from August 2000 to August 2021, progressing from Assistant Professor to full Professor. A Post-doctoral Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School of Government from September 1999 to July 2000, Michele Betsill's research focused on US cities engaged in climate change efforts. Education includes a PhD in Political Science/International Relations from University of Colorado Boulder, an MA in International Studies from University of Denver, and a BA in French and Communication from DePauw University. Additionally, Michele Betsill worked as a Research Associate at the National Center for Atmospheric Research on climate-related decision-making projects and completed a dissertation examining environmental NGOs in climate negotiations from the 1980s to the Kyoto Protocol.
