Doug Risner

Doug Risner is a distinguished faculty fellow and professor at Wayne State University, serving since July 2003. As the program director for the MA in Theatre & Dance with a focus on Teaching Artistry, Risner has made significant contributions to dance education, also holding the position of associate editor for the Research in Dance Education since 2023. Previously, Risner was the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Dance Education from 2006 to 2012. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Choreography & Performance and advanced degrees, including a PhD in Curriculum & Teaching and an MFA in Dance Performance & Choreography, all from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
