Rich Sauer is chief legal officer and head of corporate affairs at Workday, leading the team responsible for complying with and helping to shape various laws and regulations that impact both Workday and its customers.
Rich has more than 20 years of legal experience in the technology industry. Prior to joining Workday, he held several senior roles in Microsoft’s Corporate, External & Legal Affairs department, including as corporate vice president and deputy general counsel responsible for supporting Microsoft’s worldwide sales and marketing division. In addition, Rich also led Microsoft’s Regulatory Affairs team, orchestrating the company’s approach to responsible and ethical artificial intelligence. Prior to joining Microsoft in 1999, Rich was an attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP.
Rich holds a Juris Doctor degree from American University’s Washington College of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University.
