Hua Xu is currently serving as the Assistant Dean for Biomedical Informatics at Yale School of Medicine and holds the position of Robert T. McCluskey Professor and Vice-Chair in the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science since February 2023. Prior to Yale University, Hua Xu founded Melax Technologies Inc. from August 2018 to May 2023. Previous roles at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston included serving as The Glassell Family Distinguished Professor and Director of the Center for Translational AI in Medicine, Associate Dean for Innovation in the School of Biomedical Informatics, and Professor and Director of the Center for Computational Biomedicine from October 2012 to January 2023. Earlier experience includes an Assistant Professorship at Vanderbilt University and roles as a PhD Candidate and Programmer/Researcher at Columbia University. Hua Xu earned a PhD in Biomedical Informatics from Columbia University, a Master's in Computer and Information Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor's in Biochemistry from Nanjing University.
