Job description

We are Canyon AeroConnect - located in Prescott, Arizona.   Canyon stands as one of the world’s leading suppliers of avionic-standard aircraft communications, navigation, and audio/intercom systems. Canyon’s products have been widely adopted and proven in-service across a wide range of civilian, paramilitary, and military fixed-wing and rotorcraft applications. Over the years, we’ve become known as the benchmark in aircraft tactical communication and audio equipment for Air Ambulance, Law Enforcement, SAR, EMS, Electronic News Gathering, Military and Marine applications. Products include digital and analog radio/audio management systems, Tac/Com, VHF/UHF radio systems, intercoms, data interface accessories, and aural warning generators.

Role purpose (position scope):

This individual is responsible for assisting experienced Engineers and Operations personnel with a variety of tasks (i.e. system support, qualification testing, product testing, test equipment design, build and SW debug, product testing, equipment and build assembly, soldering, equipment/product troubleshooting, etc.). S/he works on more complex activities independently. The person can interact with internal and external customers. This person uses expertise to develop work practices and procedures, trains and mentors lower-level personnel on work practices and standards and can work schedules and metrics appropriate to the team level. The individual may be able to develop simple test equipment HW and SW designs.

The individual must be able to meet all minimum standards within 90 days.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Set objectives and deliver results that have a direct impact on Test team objectives.

·         Responsible for planning and executing appropriate project subtasks to meet program needs. 

·         Leads test activities, bench builds, repair activities, board troubleshooting, and coordinates cross-functionally with other groups within the                  business. 

·         Takes on some lower-level engineering tasks/designs.

·         Assists with exchanges with internal and external customers, vendors and suppliers throughout the life of the project. 

·         Able to communicate and/or mentor others in Canyon AeroConnect standards. 

·         Will participate in a variety of meetings and presentations regarding projects and/or processes.

·         Understands effective communication skills that impact behaviors and task/milestone adherence.

·         Updates/modifies working methods, processes, and standards within the organization based on experience and abilities gained via                                experience. 

·         Independently plan out how to resolve significant issues/problems prior to negotiating them with the leaders in the organization. 

·         Able to work on simple engineering designs with some independence.

·         Comply and uphold Canyon AeroConnect policies and standards.

·         Comply with theCanyon AeroConnect Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

·         Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Core Competencies:

Apply diverse technical experience across a broad range of products and test equipment related designs. 

Level III

·         KNOWLEDGE – A general understanding of Canyon Audio and Radio products as well as the associated test equipment.

·         SKILL – Demonstrated ability to complete non-routine or complex tasks in creative and effective ways. Ability to troubleshoot Audio and/or                   Radio products to the component level.  Ability to solder and wire to IPC standards or attain certification after hiring. Ability to build basic                   test equipment with supervision. Proven track record performing DO-160 Qual testing is an added plus. Highly skilled using Microsoft Office               tools. LabVIEW, Visual Basic and CAD experience is a plus. 

·         COMPLEXITY – Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes                                recommendations for solutions to problems. May serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.

·         DISCRETION/LATITTUDE - Works under minimal supervision. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and                   goals. Determines methods and procedures for new assignments.

·         MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - High School diploma (or equivalent) and 10+ years of related experience; An associate’s degree in a                technical discipline such as electronics, electro-mechanical, or related area is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Tasks involve light physical effort in sedentary to light work; may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects or materials (25 – 30 lbs.)
  • Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation
