Job description

The Role

Underwriters are at the heart of Capital on Tap as they allow us to grow our portfolio whilst keeping bad debt within appetite.

  • Reviewing lending applications along with supporting credit reference agency and financial data in order to make an informed credit decision
  • Performing credit reviews on our back book customers to determine whether their credit decisions are still valid
  • Helping to facilitate change in underwriting strategy and structure to improve processes and efficiency
  • Interacting with other internal teams to review all inquiries and provide credit decisions
  • Facilitating Risk initiatives and pilots by reviewing credit data and making decisions within company appetite
  • Conducting periodic reviews of individual bad debts to assist in risk, fraud and collections performance reviews

What we're looking for

  • 1+ years' underwriting experience with a minimum of 6 months’ mandate (secured or unsecured)
  • A broad understanding of how businesses operate, financial statements and credit files
  • Ability to demonstrate best practises in Responsible Lending putting the customer first and protecting the business against bad debt through inaccurate lending decisions
  • An ability to work autonomously
  • An ability to use an analytical approach to problem-solving
