The role

As HUB24 grows and expands, we require an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Finance Operations team on a 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract.

In this role, you’ll manage payroll data, ensure compliance with modern awards, and bridge the gap between payroll functions and regulations. You'll process payroll accurately, streamline processes, and provide insights to improve operations.

You’ll work independently and with the team to deliver timely and accurate payroll across the HUB24 Group.

The position is located in Sydney.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with relevant awards and legislation, including Modern Award Compliance reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparing and paying State and Federal tax obligations, such as PAYG tax, Payroll tax, and Superannuation Guarantee contributions.
  • Process onboarding and terminations from a payroll perspective.
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll transactions and payments.
  • Prepare and deliver payslips and meet STP requirements in a timely manner.
  • Manage Superannuation Choice funds for employees.
  • Oversee leave entitlements and payments.
  • Liaise with the ATO to resolve any issues.
  • Assist with month-end reporting, system reconciliation, and Payroll Tax Lodgement.
  • Address general payroll inquiries, resolve payroll issues, maintain employee records, and work closely with HR and Finance departments

Key requirements

  • Over 3 years of payroll experience, including at least 1 year of independently managing payroll for a workforce of 500+ employees.
  • Skilled in analysing large datasets and managing complex payroll scenarios.
  • Deep understanding of industry-specific Modern Awards.
  • Proficient in general payroll practices, procedures, and legislation.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and precise in work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve issues.
  • Experience with KeyPay or similar systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrates honesty, integrity, confidentiality, and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
