The Controller provides strategic, unbiased and objective accounting advisory services which assist organizations in improving financial reporting and overall monitoring of company performance. The Controller is essential in the organization, given the direct interaction with our clients. The Controllers is directly responsible for delivering on the value promised to our clients. The Controller delivers on this value by performing an accounting Discovery identifying first writing and then working directly with clients on restructuring, executing the Project Plan. The Controller uses their skills in developing people to follow standard processes to appropriately gather financial data and develop systems they have acquired to affect real, substantive, sustainable and quantifiable change. This change is documented weekly in the form of a Weekly Abacus Meeting (WAM) that shows progress against agreed to deliverables and is reviewed, in person, with the client each week prior to leaving the client’s place of work. Given the responsibilities for this position, the expectations for skills, competency, and “values fit” is high. The Controller position is an employee role and, as such, does not require owning a separate entity (Corporation or LLC). The Controller may work individually or as part of a team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Follow the instructions of leadership.
  • Consistentlydeliverquantifiableandsustainablevaluefortheclientsweservebyperforming accounting consulting services remotely or on site at our client’s office(s) upon request.
  • Remote and Field Activities; Ensure you are on time for all scheduled meetings and travel plansandprofessionallyattired.Ifyouarerunninglate,contactleadershipdirectly.During on-site of any engagement the dress code is business formal.
  • Follow the Project Checklist:
  • Endeavortocomplete,deliverandreviewproposedlistofprojectrecommendations to client. Secure authorization to complete a clearly defined scope of work.
  • Provide a full range of accounting services to clients.
  • OnopeningdayorinaTeamsconference,meettheclient,ensureyouunderstand their needs, and they agree in writing the scope of work lined out in the project.
  • Call leadership directly flagging any anticipated issues for problems.
  • Ensure invoice, check(s) and other forms of payment are delivered to home office immediately upon return.
  • Participateintraining,fromtimetotime,asdirectedbyleadership.Someinitial training is required initially to become familiar with the company’s business processes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Accounting  (Master of Science in Accounting preferred)
  • 10+ years of accounting and managerial finance experience
  • Experienced in QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Sage, NetSuite, and other major accounting software
  • Experienced in accounting system migrations and/or integrating accounting systems with various ERP systems or CRMs
  • Experienced in Income Statement and Balance Sheet Variance Analysis
  • Experienced in Cash Flow Management and Budgeting
  • Experienced in Cost Accounting preferred
  • CPA license preferred
