Job Summary
JRM is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for concurrent projects within JRMs Public, BLDGs, and/or Healthcare Sectors and will act as a liaison between accounting and project management ensuring accurate and consistent billing and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial aspects of Public, BLDGS, and/or Healthcare construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, to meet or exceed project goals.
  • Process and review subcontractor AIA documents to monitor project progress accurately.
  • Attend pencil meetings with owners or architects to ensure pay applications align with contract terms and project expectations.
  • Manage Accounts Payable, including General Condition and Requirement invoices, and prepare monthly Work-In-Place reports.
  • Generate timely financial reports for field team presentations, including cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and profitability analyses to ensure project success.
  • Collaborate with project managers to comply with financial procedures, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies, ensuring project goals are met.
  • Conduct regular financial audits to maintain accuracy and adherence to regulations and internal policies.
  • Handle Accounts Payable and Receivable, manage invoicing, and ensure timely payments to subcontractors and suppliers to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Work with the purchasing team to negotiate contracts and control project costs effectively.
  • Ensure all billings and project costs are accurately posted or accrued during the month-end close process.
  • Prepare journal entries to reassign costs to correct billing codes and maintain monthly and quarterly budget-to-actuals.
  • Utilize detailed data analysis to resolve financial discrepancies and accurately reconcile accounts.
  • Implement and uphold financial controls and procedures across projects to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Address billing inquiries and manage Accounts Receivable, collaborating with project executives and managers to monitor cash flows.
  • Review contracts, payment terms, insurance, and bond requirements to safeguard project interests.
  • Produce and manage a suite of monthly management reports such as Work-In-Place, Cash Position, Billing Proofs, Sales Tax, and PPE Reports.
  • Prepare monthly ad hoc and forecast reports for assigned projects to anticipate and manage expenditures.
  • Generate MWBE compliance reports for city and state regulations.
  • Assess certified payrolls for prevailing wage projects, ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent experience in project accounting.
  • Qualified candidates will have a minimum of four years of project accounting experience for a construction company.
  • Knowledge of certified payroll and prevailing wage is a plus.
  • Clear understanding of contract types (CM, Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), Lump Sum, Cost Plus).
  • Proficient in G702/703 formatted requisition billing.
  • Detail orientation and organizational skills sufficient to support multiple concurrent projects.

Computer Skills

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and Sage 300 (Timberline).

Salary Information

  • To the extent this position is performed in New York City, the annual salary range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000.
