Tax Manager, Real Estate

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager with a focus on real estate and partnership taxation to join our team. The Tax Manager will play a critical role in managing tax compliance, planning, and strategy for our real estate clients as well as participate in the firm’s real estate niche group through both formal and on-the-job training. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of partnership taxation, technical real estate issues (1031 exchanges, 743/754, special allocations of income (target/waterfall/IRR/etc.), and excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation and review of complex partnership tax returns, including federal, state, and local filings.

  • Oversee tax planning and strategy for real estate clients, including structuring transactions.

  • Maintain client relationships and coordinate completion of various client needs, including compliance, consulting and other requests.

  • Conduct research and analysis of tax issues related to real estate, including partnership allocations, depreciation, and gain analysis.

  • Coordinate with external tax advisors, legal counsel, and other professionals to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.

  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams on tax-related matters, including financial reporting, investor communications, and compliance requirements.

  • Stay current on tax law changes and industry developments affecting real estate partnerships and communicate implications to stakeholders.

  • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.

Qualifications:

  • CPA with 5+ years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on real estate partnerships

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • Deep knowledge of partnership taxation principles and regulations

  • Experience with complex tax structuring and planning for real estate transactions

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret tax laws and regulations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders

  • Proficiency in tax software, preferably CCH Axcess

  • Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of tax professionals

Salary $120,000 - $170,000.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Snyder Cohn considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. As such, in certain circumstances, offers may be outside of the listed salary range.
