Accounting Manager I (hickam Communities)

Job description

Hickam Communities is looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team in Honolulu, HI.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the work activities of an accounting team. You will be responsible for oversight and development of staff as well as reporting requirements

Please note that the salary offered is $62,400 annually with the eligibility of a 15% performance bonus. This is a hybrid opportunity with the following work schedule: Monday through Friday, from 8:00AM to 5:00PM, with 2 remote days and 3 in-office days (Tuesday through Thursday).

Responsibilities

  • Manage work activities of the accounting team to ensure accounting responsibilities are maintained
  • Hire, develop and/or mentor to professional and department goals.
  • Train accountants on IPC practices, policies and procedures, accounting standards and adherence to compliance standards.
  • Manage the work activities of the accounting team
  • Review and approve all journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by accounting staff.
  • Prepare management fee calculations, inventory reconciliations and other accruals as needed for accurate financial reporting
  • Review and submit monthly and quarterly financial packets and external reporting requirements for the project.
  • Submit monthly balance sheet requirements to corporate for compliance with accounting policy and procedures.
  • Assist Financial Controller with implementation of accounting and financial related policies.
  • Oversee and coordinate the audit process. Act as Project intermediary with external auditors by researching, compiling and responding to audit requests to ensure completion and meeting internal and external timelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 year's prior accounting experience.
  • At least 1 year prior supervisory experience.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications, proficient in Excel.
  • Ability to verbally communicate complex concepts in English and address sensitive situations, resolve conflicts, negotiate, motivate and persuade others
  • Must have a current vehicle license in good standing and meet the driving records standards outlined in the Company Safe Vehicular Operations Policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Yardi software.
  • CPA candidate.
