Micah Scudder

Micah Scudder is an Associate Research Scientist at the Tropical Forests and People Research Centre at the University of the Sunshine Coast, specializing in community forestry and forest-based economic development in Papua New Guinea since January 2019. Prior experience includes serving as a Research Forester at the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at the University of Montana, where data collection and reporting on the forest products industry in the western United States were key responsibilities. Micah also held roles as an International Trade Associate for the US Senate, analyzing trade regulations and natural resource flows, and as a Forest Products Export Manager/Market Analyst for the Montana World Trade Center, facilitating significant trade missions to China. Earlier experience with the US Forest Service involved fire management and forestry technician duties. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Plantation and Native Forest Research from the University of the Sunshine Coast, along with dual Master’s degrees in Forest Management and Business Administration from the University of Montana, complemented by studies in Resource Conservation and Political Science.
